Experience
I study mechanical and electrical engineering at The University of Michigan. At Michigan, I work as a teaching assistant/lab instructor and in the student learning center as a tutor. I have been tutoring math, science and Spanish for four years. In each of the subjects I tutor, I have taken courses up to the AP level or farther, received an 'A' or higher, and a 5 on each AP exam. When tutoring, I always introduce topics in a unique way; this grabs the student's attention and helps him or her to remember new material. Then, I cater the lesson and practice specifically to each student by focusing on weak points in subject understanding and by using a teaching method suited for the particular student. I can break down complex theories into simple ideas; then, I teach them using examples from our everyday lives thus making them easy to understand. I also use creative memory tools to remember structures and rules which is especially useful in Spanish. I offer a free introductory and planning session where we can create a tutoring plan tailored specifically to the student’s needs.
